  1. 01What business outcome does it serve, and what result would be unacceptable?
  2. 02What has it changed, at what full cost, and what can honestly be credited to it?
  3. 03Which AI is in scope, and what could we have missed?
  4. 04Is the information it uses current, correctly understood and permitted for this use?
  5. 05Who owns it, and what is it allowed to cause to happen?
  6. 06Can the responsible person see trouble coming and stop it in practice?
  7. 07Which limits are enforced by controls, rather than by the model's promise to behave?
  8. 08Can it recover, and does it stay inside its access and dependencies?
  9. 09What supports each claim it makes, and what can we not observe?
  10. 10If a provider, a model or a person changed tomorrow, what would the business keep?

We help you answer them with evidence, mark each one as unknown, documented, operating or demonstrated, and keep the exceptions visible. The answers belong to you.

What we do

We start with the business, not the technology.

Around one decision that matters now, we establish what the work is for, who may decide, which information can be relied on, how the work is actually done and what counts as success. That is Step Zero, and we revisit it every time the business or its AI changes. On that footing the AI is bounded, measured and given its authority.

Each engagement adds a reviewed brick to a record of your business that you own, keep and extend, so that it stays useful when a model, a vendor or a person changes.

How it begins

The first engagement is Ground.

One consequential decision, normally one or two departments, a bounded set of sources and a named sponsor. It ends in a decision you can defend and a record you keep. From there you enter wherever your need is: Ground, Align, Plan, Build or Keep.

Who is behind it

The method is the founder's own.

MortarCloud.ai was founded by Dale Martin. The method is his: built through his own AI and context engineering since 2022, and run every day since the start of 2026 on AI as the operating system of this firm. He brings to it three decades in enterprise technology, including senior management responsibility for AI operations and Responsible AI governance at Thermo Fisher Scientific, a global organization of more than 120,000 colleagues, and he is the author of Bears & Mosquitoes: Building Trusted AI from the Inside Out.
